“The future’s bright…the future’s orange!”

What a week! It has been the week of being pushed to the limits by the under fives of the household  who have shown teenage rebellion ( the 5 year old) and opportunistic with risk taking behaviours ( the 21 month old).

I can smile at the antics of my 21 month old though. First it was taking the opportunity to go into the cupboard whlist the lock is broken and remove a bottle of fabric conditioner, then unscrew the cap and pour the contents over the tiled floor as well as himself. Ice rink was an understatement and a good hour cleaning then cleaning us. Still he smelt good for days!

Secondly not seeing the appeal of blue food myself , he decided to test out the blue play dough for flavour notes and in disgust wiped the chewed remains over the sofa. Dry cleaning a sofa is cheap , isn’t it?

Thirdly whilst I was in the bathroom for all of 30 seconds, he moved a chair , grabbed a pencil and showed some creativity on the walls. Still we needed the decorator to repaint the kitchen , didn’t we?

Finally I opened the larder , turned and put the weetabix on the counter , turned to find most of the packet of cereal hoops on the floor.

I have been saying expression ” it is good to show curiosity and creativity” all week! I am guessing his future is bright!

Our tea was orange today with butternut and bacon pasta.

1 onion, chopped
1 grated garlic clove
6 rashers bacon , chopped
1/2 large butternut squash, peeled and diced
200g dried pasta
1 tbsp chopped rosemary

Fry off onion , garlic and bacon
Boil diced squash then add to fried onion mix
Sauté squash and rosemary for a few minutes then mash with fork
Mix with cooked pasta and grate over parmesan
