Morrocan date shortbread

Whlist the youngest snoozed on the sofaimage

and his brother was lost in lego land adventures in his room,


I grabbed the opportunity to bake which seems a rare moment this school holiday.

My mother in law gave me this recipe using date but I slightly tweaked it and felt it was the flavours of Morroco…

Moroccan Date Shortbread

225g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
175g softened butter or Dairy free PURE
100g light soft brown sugar
100g chopped dates
Zest of a small orange

Sift dry ingredients together and rub in fat until breadcrumb texture
Stir in sugar , dates and orange zest
Knead until blended
Press into a Tin
mark out 16 squares
Bake at 180c for 30 minutes
Cut through biscuit mix into the marked squares and leave to cool in tin
