Just what my son needed after school today …..nom nom nom date and orange scones!!!
350g self raising flour
3 tablespoon caster sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
85 g PURE or dairy free spread or butter
150g chopped dates
Juice and zest of a large orange
175 ml Oatly or dairy free milk or milk
Combine flour, orange zest , sugar, baking powder and salt
Rub in Pure until breadcrumb consistency
Add chopped dates
Warm milk and orange juice and add to dry mix
Combine until dough forms , adding a touch more flour if too sticky
Place on floured surface and fold a few times until smooth.
Pat until about 4 cm thick and cut out rounds using cutter, glass etc
Place in baking sheet and bake at 220c for 10 minutes
Serve with melting Pure or butter.
